thought.1

Sunsets are beautiful. Most of the time we hardly notice them unless it's a special occasion and we seek them out, but they happen every day. Sometimes you may take a quick notice while driving home or if you're outside but most of the time it transitions from day to night without a second thought.

Do you think that if we lived on a tidally locked world, one that has its star in the same position in the sky all the time, so that the horizon was a perpetual sunset, that we would be bored or frustrated with the view? The gorgeous multicolored display of light would become part of the mundane, something taken for granted and rarely or never appreciated? Would the beauty fade away and we would fail to appreciate the painted sky?

Maybe we love sunsets because they are unique, fleeting, and we normally don't notice them until after they're gone. The everyday beauty we get to experience fades to the background unless we purposely notice it. Like sunsets, it's important to remember to appreciate the everyday things and people we are around because you might not notice what beauty you failed to appreciate until it's too late.
